This maternity session for the beautiful and glowing Nicole was one of my favourite sessions! First, I love how it was her loving mother in law who called and arranged for me to meet with her and Nicole in late 2014, to discuss setting up the perfect outdoor maternity session over the winter, before the big baby shower day! The mama to be is as natural, sweet and down to earth as can be, so she knew she wanted a simple outdoor session without all the fuss — just some classic maternity portraits, both alone and with the daddy to be, and incorporating some of the fun props to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Baby James!
To keep the overall theme natural and organic, she wore a brilliant blue tunic, a really gorgeous shade to match the greenery we chose for her locations. The little forest path made for a nice archway around her, and we found a little clearing in the forest to use when the light turned golden. The sign for the baby’s room was hand made by the grandma to be!
To add a little variety, we shot a short series on the dock in the Woodlands. This added some soft colour, and winter elements, and it’s nice to have a little change of scenery. I think these were some of my favourites, with the pretty airy light and the reflections in the water.
Check out these adorable cowboy boots!
The final shots were taken as the sun was going down, to catch some pretty light up in the forest clearing. I love this shot of the two of them, happy together, awaiting the day their family becomes three. Congratulations and I can’t wait to see pictures of Baby J when he arrives!
