Vintage Inspired Senior Session – The Woodlands

For this senior portrait session, this graduating senior wanted to incorporate some authentic vintage items from her own family, like this really interesting suitcase that matched her vintage inspired patch-work dress perfectly! We had the threat of spring storms in the air, but we managed to finish the session before the rain started and came back with some gorgeous airy portraits thanks to the diffuse clouds. The field was a perfect match for her pretty blue dress as well – blue is a colour that photographs wonderfully well for your senior portraits! Lastly, no senior session is complete without one outfit to pay tribute to your chosen university or college! Hook ’em!

The Woodlands Senior Photographer – Stylish Seniors

One of the fun things about this job is seeing all the amazing outfits that my seniors put together to showcase their personal style! All the girls are so different, with their own ideas on how to style their session – from country chic, to earthy boho, to classic sophistication to trendy. Some seniors bring a special dress or tunic to match the colours of the university they will be attending come fall — like this beautiful girl with her sundress in UT colours! She also came exquisitely styled in a chic black romper with matching black hat, to add some dramatic flair to her senior session. Love the variety!

The Woodlands High School Senior Pictures

This beautiful Woodlands High School senior wanted her senior portraits taken in a rustic style location, with lots of greenery and natural touches like the wooden fence, rocks and water. We found the perfect location with -bonus! – Texas bluebonnets! This session was altogether amazing, check out the first half of her senior portrait session, before we set up a gorgeous boho-in-the-field series at sunset. And no senior session is complete without taking pictures in your future university colours! Bring an outfit that represents your chosen school, and bring props (banners, signs etc) if you have them to really personalize your session.

The Woodlands Seniors – The Ice Skater

What’s so amazing about photographing high school seniors, is how very different they all are and how much energy they bring to the portraits that are all their own. This lovely girl wanted to showcase her talent as an ice skater for her senior portrait session in the Woodlands, which was fantastic since she’s the first ice skater I’ve worked with who brought costumes and her skates as props!  We shot a variety of looks in and around town for this first half of her session before heading out to the field, and this more urban style set was so full of patterns and bright hues, I love the vibrant colourfulness of the first locations contrasting with the grittiness of the concrete in the last set.

A Touch of Urban – Senior Portraits the Woodlands

This gorgeous senior had two distinct looks for her senior pictures — earthy and natural, and classic with a touch of urban styling! See the first half of her senior portrait session here, The Woodlands High School Senior Photographer.

For this part of her senior session, we were going for a more street urban vibe, using concrete, stairs and brick for a modern look. This particular color of blue photographs fantastically and looks amazing on everyone! Style tip: Always bring at least one pair of jeans or long pants for your senior session, so we can get poses that we can’t do with skirts or dresses. Seated poses are always fun and add variety to your senior session

She rocked this whole shoot, and that classic black dress  (with those orange shoes!) looks dressed up but edgy against the  brick.

Country Glam Senior Session in Magnolia

Check out the first half of this gorgeous senior’s session here – A Senior And Her Horse in Magnolia, Texas.  She had such a beautiful day for her senior portraits, and the perfect location at a horse ranch in Magnolia!

All my seniors get unlimited outfit changes, so this senior came prepared with some country glam outfits to match the rustic location. These are the things that really pull a senior photo shoot together – the right styling for the location, the right hair and make up (by  my preferred stylist, included in your retainer!) and the perfect set up and posing. Urban Senior Session – The Woodlands

I LOVE urban sessions, shooting in and around buildings and the streets. This is the first part of this high school session, using the amazing light in a parking garage in the Woodlands. Parking garages are incredible for shooting senior pictures — the light is perfect, there are plenty of little spots for posing and you get a more urban, street vibe to your senior pictures.

If you’re looking for a more urban style senior session, for a modern look for your senior portraits, this is a great location option! After the parking garage, we’ll shoot around the streets, using urban elements like brick, glass, windows and city scenes. More to come from this urban session!

Adorable Sisters – Professional Photographer The Woodlands

Another gorgeous day for a family portrait session for this family from Spring, TX. A clear blue sky, beautiful fall light, a field of wheat coloured grasses and these adorable sisters – such a fun session!

For family portraits with little ones, I make sure to leave enough shooting time to accommodate snacks and time outs, and some cuddles with their favourite blanket or teddy bear. We’ll start with the family together, since at the beginning of the session children are often the most coooperative and a little curious, which helps get those formal shots where we want eye contact. We will move on to  mother-daughter and daddy-daughter portraits, so every child gets a special moment alone with mom and dad. They love this part of the photoshoot!  I won’t let you get away with not having a shot of the two of you together either — children love to see portraits of their parents, and walking by a portrait of their parents happy and together has been proven to help boost their self esteem and happiness!

 The kids are usually more at ease towards the end of the session, to get some individual and sibling shots. Families often worry about their little ones not cooperating, and sometimes all the naps and kisses in the world can’t make the portrait seem less scary for toddlers. With time and patience, we’ll get those family portraits you’re looking for! Some of my favourite child photographs are of the children just being themselves – and if teddy, a soother, or a comforting blanket is a part of your child’s life right now, making it a part of the portrait session (even if just to help soothe tears) may be something you’ll be thankful for years from now. I aim to capture your family, your children, as they are so you have those visual reminders in the years to come how they are NOW, while they’re little. Embrace this now, and document it forever.

Family Reunion The Woodlands Photographer

This family booked a family photography session for their get together around the holidays, on a beautiful crisp winter day full of sunlight and laughter. Since the family was getting together at the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center in the Woodlands, we arranged to have the family photo shoot on the resort grounds, outside by the docks and the gazebo. It was a great location for a family reunion photography session, and they knocked it out of the park with their classy outfits accented with blue.

For family event photography, where several families are getting together, I always make sure to shoot the entire family together and also to break off into small units so each family has a great photo of their own. With grandparents, it’s always great to have special shots of the grandparents with the children as well.

This photoshoot was a little more formal, so we did mostly posed portraits of the family units but I pull the kids away separately to get some shots of each individual in their lovely suits and outfits, all dressed up for picture day!

Family Portraits with a Lifestyle Twist – The Woodlands Photographer

When you’re shooting family portraits with the happiest little toddler, and you catch some of the best laughs,  you can’t help but smile when you see the final portraits! This little guy was so adorable, with the cutest smile and funniest expressions, it was easy to see how his parents were so laid back and relaxed for their family session. We were able to get some amazing shots of their family connection, for more of a lifestyle feel, which is harder to do with little ones who tend to shy away and take a while to come out of their shells. Not this little guy! He was grinning from ear to ear and ready to give kisses to mom and dad and pose for the camera.  This shoot really made my day!

Family Photographer in the Woodlands for Wall Canvases

The K family was definitely one of the most fun and laid back families I’ve had the pleasure to work with this year. What makes each family portrait session unique is the personalities of each family, and the energy they bring to their session, and how I use that to make personalized portraits for each client.

This family was all about having fun and laughter, and just being themselves for their portraits. After a few posed photos, we slowed things down and just let the family laugh and interact, to let their personalities shine through. I was also really happy that they brought the grandparents along for the shoot, and of course the adorable puppy!

This mom went home with six gorgeous large wall canvases to decorate her home with the faces of the ones she loves most. We designed a trio of wall hangings for the common room, with one of the family large in the middle and smaller ones of the boys and the parents on the sides, for a 3D effect.

Engagement Photographer in the Woodlands – Fall Portraits

Fall is my absolute favourite time of year, and engagement portraits are one of my favourite types of sessions to shoot! So I’m totally in love with this fall engagement session here in Spring with this soon-to-be-wed couple from the Woodlands, right at peak fall season. Her dress is the most beautiful shade of magenta, a perfect match for the amazing fall foliage we found around the Spring area. Against an almost painterly looking backdrop, this engagement couple look radiant and so happy in love.

When I shoot engagement portraits, I always try to get a variety of poses and expressions so your pictures show all the different sides of you and your relationship. It’s always wonderful to have posed portraits, especially for Save the Date cards, but for wedding slideshows and  storybooks it’s even better to have a set of engagement portraits that show you in more candid moments of laughter and togetherness. Best wishes to this gorgeous couple, may they have a long and happy life together!

Family Photographer in the Woodlands – Classic Portraits

This wonderful family from the Woodlands was such a breeze to photograph for their holiday portraits. Just about everything was perfect for their family session – the weather was gorgeous, the light was right, the fall colours were in full splendor, and this family styled their portraits beautifully. The navy blue is a great hue for shooting family portraits outdoors, and the accents of neutral cream and brown are the perfect match.

For family pictures, we shoot some formals with the entire family together, happy and having fun, for a great canvas or mounted print for the wall portrait. This will be the centre-piece of your home gallery set, on the wall or above the fireplace. Add in some complementary shots of the parents together, and the kids, and you have a fantastic wall cluster of canvases or framed prints.

We’ll also take some fun portraits of the entire family, where they’re a little more lifestyle oriented, or candid. Formal portraits are fantastic for showcasing in the home, but these fun family pictures make great cards,  gifts, or collages and family albums. The Woodlands Engagement Photographer

I had SUCH fun at this session! Super cute couple, willing to let me play with all my funny lenses and film cameras, plus I made them trek all over the area and they never grumbled but made it all fun. The rain came out in a fine mist off and on, but they soldiered on through that too! Big big share from this session, since they were oh so fun to pose!

Spring TX Outdoor Engagement Photographer

A little engagement portrait preview for this beautiful (and really fun!) couple who are getting married in just a few short weeks! It was an honour to do their engagement portraits here in Spring, and thankfully the rain wasn’t too bad – we kept our eye on the weather for weeks, hoping not to get a total rain out! Lovely couple, I can’t wait to get the rest of their gallery together!
