Tomball Family Pictures

This sweet family from Tomball met with me on a gorgeous fall day for family pictures in the park, and the light was just magical! Their little one was so handsome and so much fun to work with, I had a lot of fun with this family for their holiday card pictures! There is nothing like giving out Christmas cards to your family and friends with beautiful pictures of your family!

This first image is now a 16×20 gallery wrapped canvas, hanging in their home to enjoy every day! The Woodlands Family Portraits in the Park

This lovely family came to me for their first ever portrait session as a family!  We chose this pretty park in the Woodlands for the greenery and this perfect bridge, and the light was really beautiful that day. We are having such a fantastic fall for family pictures, and I’m enjoying being outdoors on location for these sessions!

We started with more formal portraits on the bridge, for traditional family pictures for holiday cards and Christmas gifts for family.

Family Portraits – The Woodlands and Tomball

This beautiful family met with me on a perfect day full of sunlight and clear skies for their family portraits here in the Woodlands nearby Tomball. We wanted to shoot a mixture of posed portraits and some fun lifestyle images of the family just being together, for some real life type family pictures. I always love these natural family pictures best, with the warmth of laughter and happy smiles. Families tend to initially request standard portraits for their large wall pieces, such as framed portraits or canvases, but most often end up choosing the more natural, less posed lifestyle shots for their living room centerpiece.

This family chose this gorgeous shot of them walking together, hand in hand and laughing, down this sunlight path surrounded by greenery for their mantle piece. This image is now a 32×48 gallery wrapped canvas in their living room, and when I delivered it to their home and saw it there on the wall, I was so pleased to provide such a beautiful piece of wall art for this family to hand down through generations.

The Woodlands Couple Photographer

This kind and loving husband contacted me about  a surprise gift  for Christmas – a gift certificate for a photography session for the two of them together! It’s a lovely gift for anyone, to tell them you love them so much you want to celebrate that love by getting portraits taken together to cherish forever. So we set up the gift certificate for him to put under the tree, and it was awesome to finally meet this amazing couple for their fall session!

They just wanted beautiful, casual portraits of the two of them together as a couple, without any fancy props or elaborate set ups — just them, just their personalities shining through, just their happy smiles. We had a great time at our session, thanks for choosing me for this wonderful and thoughtful gift for your wife!

This shot was almost a last minute decision, and it was getting pretty dark but I’m so glad we took the time to shoot it. This sums up this fun and loving couple perfectly — the motorcycle, their laid back style and their precious furbaby. I love this shot!

Multi-Generation Sessions – The Woodlands Family Portrait Photographer

Fall is the most popular time of year to book family portrait sessions here in The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe and  Tomball since the weather is so beautiful! It’s also the time of year when we have the chance to get together as family, whether for Thanksgiving or Christmas, so it’s no surprise I get lots of calls for extended family sessions that include the entire family.  Family reunions are very common as the holidays get closer, and we want to remember those special occasions when we all come together to celebrate.

Family Mini Session – Photographer in the Woodlands

This session was a nice change for me, to shoot a little action on the Waterway near the canal for a family session mini shoot! We choose locations to match each family, and this lovely trio like to spend their weekends being outdoors, walking, strolling around the park. So this was a great spot for a quick session, to celebrate  little Case turning one! I love how bright and airy this setting is, with the waterfall catching light in the background on the pretty stone wall.

Happy smiling pictures of families walking together, hand in hand, are always winning shots and will be treasured for years to come. And the stairs make a nice place to sit to keep little ones still and get everyone together hugging close!

How to Display Your Portraits: Wall Prints

There is nothing that makes a home feel more complete than hanging the family portraits of the people you love on the wall. When you book your family, senior, maternity or engagement session, we’ll set a time to go over the most important aspects of your upcoming photo shoot so your pictures not only exceed your expectations but also are a perfect match for your home.

MATCHING DECOR

At your consultation, we’ll discuss your home decor so that the entire look of the final portrait that will be framed for the wall is a match. From the colour of your wardrobe to the style you choose – casual, formal or whimsical – we’ll talk details and find the best location in the Woodlands or Spring area to fit your vision, whether it’s earthy with natural colours or bright and colourful with a modern twist.

MEASUREMENTS

Before your in person viewing session, it’s a good idea to take measurements of the space where the portraits will go. In the home entrance, above the mantle in the living room, or in the master bedroom are popular places to hang the large family photo. After you’ve chosen your favourite image for display, I’ll show you how it will look in your chosen size. Different sizes can also change the shape, so an 16×24 will be a different shape (ie. longer or skinnier) than the more square shaped 30×40 because of the change in ratio. Remember – 8×10 prints are gift prints! That is not the size you want on your walls, that is the size of the photo you give to Grandma to frame for her mantle. Go big! COLOUR OR BLACK AND WHITE

Along with your home decor, your personal preference for colour or black and white photos is also something to consider. I convert some of the pictures in your gallery to monochrome, when the light is right and the background isn’t too busy to  be a distraction. I personally love black and white photography, and most of the large prints I have of my own children and for my family album have been converted. When you purchase a digital file, if there is a black and white copy, you keep them both! So it you are printing, we’ll go over the two options to decide which version is right for you.

Family Photographer in the Woodlands

I think I met the happiest baby in the world when I shot these extended family portraits this spring! This family came to me for updated family photos, looking for an outdoor location for a bright and happy spring look. We choose a pretty location in the Woodlands to incorporate the spring greenery into their portraits, and we got lucky with such a beautiful day. This family chose a mounted print of the entire family together with their print credit to go with the gift prints with their Premium Collection. Such a beautiful family, thank you for choosing me as your family photographer!

One thing that makes their portraits really stand out is the colour harmony they achieved with their outfits.  With various shades of blue and spring green, they complement each other without being too matching.  It can be frustrating when choosing your wardrobe for your family portraits, but I will guide you before the session to make it stress-free.

Family Portraits in Spring TX

With summer in full swing, believe it or not it’s time to start thinking about fall family portraits. It might seem too early, but fall family session slots fill up quickly as it’s the most popular time of year for families to get together for their annual portraits. The weather is cooler, the fall colours are beautifully showing and everyone is planning their holiday cards to send out to family and friends.

The wonderful thing about fall also is the colour palette for choosing your portrait outfits. I’ll help guide you with wardrobe before the session to match your chosen location here in Spring or the Woodlands, to match your family’s personality and style. This family coordinates so well with beautiful purple jewel tones and autumn russet reds. Still casual, but carefully put together to match the fall foliage with a little pop of colour.

Happy Family Portraits – The Woodlands Photographer

This little guy was the sweetest thing ever! Four siblings came together for extended family photos this fall, to celebrate the birthday of the matriarch of the family, and each family received their own set of family portraits. I had a great time with all of them, and this boy just made my day with his shy smiles.
