Another beautiful proposal in the Woodlands, another YES! I was so happy to help this young man pull off his surprise proposal. These photo sessions take some careful planning, and coordination between you and your photographer, but I’ll be there every step of the way to make sure it goes off perfectly!
Ask me about how you can plan your special surprise proposal, and make the love of your life’s dream come true!
I always have a great time when photographing a proposal and this one was super fun! When a client calls me to help set up a proposal, it’s a big deal and we carefully plan and organize to make it perfect – and ensure it stays a surprise. The look on her face when he got down on one knee at this proposal session was magnificent and her sheer joy just shines through!
I had the honor and privilege of photographing this beautiful proposal in the Woodlands and you can just see how joyful this couple is, and feel the love!
Congratulations to this first responder for his beautiful proposal, and many thanks for your service!

If you’re ready to ask the BIG question, and want memories to last forever, hiring a professional photographer to document the surprise proposal is the gift that you’ll always have to look back on in the years to come.
This young man, with his heart full of love, brought along her whole family to witness the proposal, and I couldn’t be happier that I was able to be there to photograph it! Congratulations to all of you!
One of the most important moment of our lives is when we find our person, the one we will love forever, and choose to commit ourselves to that love that will last. While it would be wonderful if our friends and families could all be there for the proposal, sometimes our worlds are miles apart.
What you CAN do is make sure that you have it all documented so that you can share those photos with everyone you know and love, so they can also witness the joy! Hiring a professional photographer ensure that your photos will not only be carefully composed, well lit, and timed perfectly, but will also showcase all the emotion of the day in a way our cell phones just can’t. If you are proposing, and want to have memorable photos of the moment to share with your loved ones and your future children, ask me about how I can help you set up the perfect proposal session!

By hiring a professional photographer to capture the amazing moment, you’ll have incredible, magical images to share with friends and family who perhaps can’t be there to share this moment with you. Or you can invite your friends and family along to be there when you pop the big question, and father everyone together celebrate the joy.
Capture this moment forever, to share with your loved ones, for your future children, and to have for announcing your upcoming wedding. I’ll help guide you through the entire process, from set up to the big moment, so it all goes off without a hitch!
Are you planning the ultimate surprise for your girlfriend or boyfriend – a proposal? This is a very important moment and you want everything to be absolutely perfect. From start to finish, it has to be planned perfectly. When hiring a photographer to photograph the big moment, here are some very important things to consider, how to plan, and questions to ask.
EXPERIENCE
Has the photographer ever photographed a proposal before? Ask to see examples of their work, to be sure their style is the one you are imagining and hoping for. An experienced photographer can read the moment, and be ready to shoot when the time is right. The results should be professional and artistic, and taken from the correct angle to showcase the moment.
LOCATION
Choosing the right location at the right time of day is very important, because you want to be able to share photographs that are not only emotional (content) but beautiful (professionally framed and shot).
The time of day matters, because light is key to photography – bad light can ruin your shots. Consider moving the location if it’s in direct sunlight, or the time of day to later in the evening for better light. You’ll want a spot where there isn’t a crowd, with people to get in the way. Make sure your photographer knows this location well, and it is an appropriate setting to pop the question, and that it makes sense for you to be there. A spot near restaurants makes sense, as a cover for why you’re there all dressed up.
SET UP
If you choose a more quiet location such as a park, you enlist friends and family to create a set up and mark where you’ll stop to propose. Some clients use handmade signs, a picnic basket with champagne, a trail of of rose petals (careful of wind!), bouquets of flowers, and balloons to mark the spot.
Your photographer should be there before you, to help secure the location before hand, and be there early waiting for you to arrive.
She’ll want her nails looking Instagram ready, so have a sister or friend take her out for a manicure. Book a restaurant, so she’ll have a reason to be dressed up. You could also say you booked a photographer for a little photoshoot together, and this helps explain why there is a photographer waiting at the spot. Or your photographer can discretely sit on a park bench, and then get into position when the moment arrives.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT SESSION
Photographers offer a huge variety of packages, which can be confusing. Make sure the one you choose will get you enough photos to cover the whole event.
Most photographers offer full sessions (usually $750-$1200) with a lot of digital images, as well as print options. Some also offer mini sessions for under $400 – but watch the fine print to see how many photos you get. Some offer as little as 3 digital images for that price point.
I offer a perfect little mini session that gives you great coverage of this exciting event, for a lower price point than full sessions. Click here to check out my Mini Session Deal!
This lovely couple chose me to do their engagement portraits for Save the Date cards and announcements, and had the fabulous idea to hold their session at the barn where she boards her beloved horse. For their Save the Date cards, they wanted their engagement pictures to be in a natural and earthy style, full of warmth and light, as down to earth as they are.
They had such a perfect day for their engagement session!

Are you planning the ultimate surprise for your girlfriend or boyfriend – a proposal!? This is a HUGE moment and you want everything to be absolutely perfect. From the setting, to the set up, to capturing the exact moment for sharing with family and friends, it has to be planned perfectly. When hiring a photographer to photograph the big moment, here are some very important things to consider, how to plan, and questions to ask.
EXPERIENCE Has the photographer ever photographed a proposal before? Ask to see examples of their work, to be sure they’re capturing the moment the way you want/expect. Are they going to be able to know where exactly to stand, and have the right equipment? An experienced photographer can read the moment, and be ready to shoot when the time is right. Take the advice of your photographer on the best place to stand, so you get the best possible shots.
LOCATION Choosing the right location at the right time of day is key, because you want to be able to share photographs that are not only emotional (content) but beautiful (professionally framed and shot). Be sure your photographer knows *exactly* what each location you are considering looks like at different hours of the day.
Too much sunshine at noon? Then consider moving the location, or the time of day to later in the evening for better light. Too crowded in the evening? Maybe shoot earlier, and avoid the evening crowd. Make sure your photographer knows this location well, and it is an appropriate setting to pop the question, and that it makes sense for you to be there. A spot near restaurants makes sense, as a cover for why you’re there all dressed up. Ask your photographer for the best possible locations, without distractions, that will have good light at the time you want to propose.
SET UP If you choose a more quiet location such as a park, you can set up a little surprise before hand. I’ve had clients use signs, a picnic basket with champagne, a trail of of rose petals (careful of wind!), bouquets of flowers, and balloons to mark the spot.
Your photographer should be there before you, and can help make sure the spot doesn’t get spoiled by passersby or the wind. You want it perfect for when your intended sees it! Make sure to ask your photographer if they can help secure the location before hand, and be there early.
A RUSE You want the proposal to be a surprise, so you’ll need some help with the ruse! Enlist the help of your family and friends, to keep your soon-to-be-fiance in the dark.
She’ll want her hands looking Instagram ready, so have a sister or friend take her out for a manicure. Book a restaurant, so she’ll have a reason to dress up with make up. You could also say you booked a photographer for birthday/holiday/anniversay/V-Day photos, and this helps explain why there is a photographer waiting at the spot! Or your photographer can discretely hide, and then pop out when the moment arrives.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT PHOTO PACKAGE There are many different kinds of sessions that photographers offer. Make sure the session package you are choosing will get you enough photos to actually have a good sense of the event.
Most photographers offer full sessions (usually $750-$1200) with a lot of digital images, as well as print options. Some also offer mini sessions for under $400 – but watch the fine print to see how many photos you get. Some offer as little as 3 digital images for that price point.

These are hands down one of my fave types of sessions to shoot! The planning, the choices, the perfect location, and the nerves… all build up to that beautiful moment where one puts their heart on the line and asks that one special someone to be theirs forever.
This young man contacted me for help on proposing to his girlfriend, to photograph the moment that they’ll cherish forever. Mom and sister were on hand to set up the scenery with her favourite flowers (and stood by ready to jump out from behind the trees afterwards!). She was suitably surprised and, tears in her eyes, said YES! Such a happy moment, thanks for inviting me to be a part of your special moment.
What a gorgeous day for this couple’s engagement portraits! We chose a lovely little nook in the Spring and Woodlands area to take natural engagement pictures, with a little bit of a boho edge. With her beautiful long gown, the greenery looks so fresh and pretty you’d never know it was a humid day – she looks perfect! And the white dress and boots are always a winner for a country look, especially paired with the gorgeous tones of the field.
Congratulations to this couple on their engagement, I can’t wait to see your Save the Date announcement!
The family portrait is an important investment, so it’s essential to ensure you have carefully considered the overall look, style and proportion for the final piece. When your family, senior, engagement or maternity portrait session is completed, I invite clients for an in person Viewing Appointment so I can personally help you choose the perfect size, ratio and medium for your wall portrait. I’ll show you samples of the products I offer, so you can inspect and touch the products yourself.
For gallery wrapped canvases, these come ready to hang and you do not need to frame them. Metals are designed to be hung without a frame to show off the superior gloss, and the sturdy waterproof and UV resistant design means you don’t have to worry about sun or water damage. For photographic prints I offer complimentary styrene mounting so you can mount your portrait on the wall without a frame, and it’s thin enough to put in wall frames. Here is a comparison of a senior portrait from a session in the Woodlands.
WITH FRAMES
OPTION 1: By using a larger frame, you can highlight your wall portrait with accent matting around a smaller size print. The portrait keeps it’s original ratio and composition intact with matching coloured mat before being inserted into a frame. The matted frame means you don’t have to crop the original shot. There is a wide variety of colors and styles to choose from, for custom or traditional matted frames.
OPTION 2: Without matting. This option zooms in larger on the image, but crops out some of the background and the subject.
WITHOUT FRAMES
OPTION 1: A mounted print, metal or canvas without the frame. The traditional camera ratio for older cameras was 4:5, which created the infamous 8×10 desk print. As a wall portrait, your image could be anything from a 16×20 to a 32×40 or larger. Since the camera shoots at a 2:3 ratio, this crops your image.
OPTION 2: A mounted print, metal or canvas without the frame, left in it’s original composition and ratio. This size works well for image of standing subjects, where you want to keep the surrounding environment. For this image, it’s the best choice for this particular image to keep the beautiful field around her.
Congratulations to this fun couple on their upcoming spring wedding! I had the pleasure of taking their engagement portraits in the Woodlands, for their Save the Date cards and announcement. We had a lot of fun shooting around the streets, these two were full of smiles and laughter. Engagement pictures are always so fun to shoot, with the happy couple looking ahead to their bright future together. One of my fave types of sessions!
Every once in a while I get a client who asks, “Is it ok if we bring our puppy along for the session?” and the answer is always YES! I love it when clients incorporate their pets into their family or engagement sessions, to really personalize the shoot and make it all about every member of their family. So I was pretty excited to meet Jessica and James for their engagement portrait session here in Spring, TX, with the sweetest and most well behaved puppy I’ve had a chance to photograph. She added so much fun and personality to this engagement session!
Spring is finally here, and I was happy that we found some pretty yellow flowers in the field, to add a touch of colour to this outdoor engagement shoot. Jessica and James were such a fun and happy couple, we caught lots of laughter and playfulness in their engagement portraits to really show their love and happiness with each other.
Look at that adorable puppy face!!
Jessica and James want to make sure their friends and family know to SAVE THE DATE! I wish them much love and a lifetime of happiness together.

This was the perfect, most romantic set up for this lucky young lady! I was contacted to help a young man pull off the most beautiful surprise proposal for his hoped-to-be fiancee in East Shore, the Woodlands. A pathway strewn with rose petals, up to a little picnic of champagne and roses, was waiting inside the pretty white picket fence on the shoreline. He walked her up the pathway, held her hands, knelt down and asked her to marry him — all while I photographed this most amazing moment. And of course — she said YES!
Out popped her parents, a very special surprise as he’d flown them in for the special event. Also present was the real estate agent who helped make it all possible, and brought everyone together.
One thing I LOVE about my job is that I get to be around happy smiling people at the very best and most joyous moments of their lives — the hopeful engaged couples, the families celebrating another year gone by, birthday parties, mamas-to-be with new lives on the way. It’s such a wonderful thing that I get to be a part of these amazing moments. I completely adore this shot of mother and daughter admiring their diamond rings.

Most families want their family portraits taken in spring or fall, when the weather is nice and temperate, and the flowers are in bloom or the leaves are changing towards beautiful fall colour. This family flew in to their home town in Spring and the Woodlands for the holidays, and we were a little worried about the cold winter weather for their family portraits in January! Chilly as it was, the winter light is really light and airy which makes for pretty photos, the sky is clear and blue, and the grass is a natural wheaten shade that looks rustic and country. Overall, it’s a really pretty look for your family photos and I rather like shooting in winter here.
This family with four handsome boys braved a chilly but beautiful January afternoon for their photography session, and you’d never know they were cold by how natural they look in front of the camera! They struck every pose perfectly and were stylish to boot. Thanks for being such good sports!

I met this lovely family close to Christmas, for a family reunion portrait session. I love shooting families who are excited and happy to be back together in the Woodlands area, they always have a great energy. This family was ready for their family portraits with these beautiful cheery red accents and classic black, for a formal but stylishly fun look. The little ones surprised me with how well they posed for the camera! Such a fun family!
The family matriarch contacted me originally in early fall, to make sure her date was booked. I met with her in November, to look over the location near her home and make sure it was suitable for portraits, with sufficient light. I really enjoyed meeting her, and was looking forward to meeting the whole family.
The whole group together!
All the grandkids. This is a photo that the grandparents and the families always treasure — all the cousins together, happy and smiling.
For extended family shoot, I also shoot individual photos of each couple and their family.
Parents can also request individual shots of their children also.
Grandma with her babies.

Thank you to all my wonderful clients in Spring, the Woodlands, Conroe, Oak Ridge and surrounding areas for making 2014 a stellar year! I appreciate all of you, and look forward to seeing you again and meeting my new clients in 2015!
Fall is my absolute favourite time of year, and engagement portraits are one of my favourite types of sessions to shoot! So I’m totally in love with this fall engagement session here in Spring with this soon-to-be-wed couple from the Woodlands, right at peak fall season. Her dress is the most beautiful shade of magenta, a perfect match for the amazing fall foliage we found around the Spring area. Against an almost painterly looking backdrop, this engagement couple look radiant and so happy in love.
When I shoot engagement portraits, I always try to get a variety of poses and expressions so your pictures show all the different sides of you and your relationship. It’s always wonderful to have posed portraits, especially for Save the Date cards, but for wedding slideshows and storybooks it’s even better to have a set of engagement portraits that show you in more candid moments of laughter and togetherness. Best wishes to this gorgeous couple, may they have a long and happy life together!

I offer several designs to choose from, depending on how many images you want to show off.
Put one in your bedroom, to keep photos of your kids by your bedside.

One little preview for this beautiful couple to celebrate their engagement. This couple is getting married in September and these will be on display for their slideshow at the wedding! We had such warm golden light near sunset last weekend, it made for some gorgeous engagement portraits, full of light and love.
Are you getting married? Congratulations! Engagement portraits are one of my favourite kinds of sessions to shoot, and what’s not to love!? Two people so crazy about each other they want to spend their lives together, so excited for their upcoming wedding, all happiness and beautiful smiles. Just being around a couple in love makes the world more fresh and alive, like warm sunshine and lemonade on a summer’s day.

I always have a really great time being a photographer here in the Woodlands –Â meeting people from around the Woodlands, Spring, and greater area, getting to know them and being able to document a very special time in their lives. This engagement session was especially fun, as a lifestyle photography session with this fantastic newly engaged couple who came all the way from Huntsville for their engagement portraits.
A young couple in love, a big wide field, a game of frisbee and this AWESOME puppy made for a really fun day! Lifestyle sessions are always pretty laid back with lots of laughs, just letting the session flow naturally. Love it.
I shot this beautiful couple’s engagement portraits in the Woodlands last week, on a gorgeously sunny day before the weather turned winter! Congratulations on your engagement K&A and thank you for choosing me as your engagement photographer! How happy do they look!?
